Over the years I’ve certainly done my fair share of travel by airplane and (knock on wood) I haven’t had any issues of note for all the flights I’ve taken.
The closest we came was years ago in Toronto we were headed back to Saskatoon and TO had a massive storm as well as all points east and towards Manitoba. The airport was PACKED with stranded passengers waiting for hundreds of cancelled flights. The lineup at the ticket counter was huge EXCEPT for one WestJet window with a big sign that read “All Flights Headed West” There was no one there and we were headed west. Our plane was on time and ready to go as Saskatoon weather was just fine.
Oh and we had about 10 seconds of freefall when the plane hit an air pocket. Not even a crying baby or unruly/drunk passenger!
I’ve been to most major airports in Canada, some of the biggest in the USA, over seas, the Caribbean as well as Europe and all was good…barely even a delay in flights!
I do have friends and family with nightmare stories of travel though. My oldest brother was a very seasoned travelers, flying at least 2 – 3 times a week for years and he knew every single in and out there was. Every compensation someone was entitled to for delays and cancellations. How to volunteer for a bump list and get free air travel. In his case he knew the system and played it well!
What about you? Any “horror stories” to tell?
