Super Bowl I and II were erased
The first two Super Bowl games weren’t broadcast live, and the only taped footage of them was thought to have been erased to film soap operas (of all things). Thankfully, a fan’s recordings saved the games for posterity.
The halftime show started small
In the early days of the Super Bowl Half Time, shows were just Marching bands until 1991, when the NFL invited the first pop act, The New Kids on the Block, to perform.
Trophy by Tiffany
The seven-pound Lombardi Trophy, which has been awarded to the Super Bowl champions since 1971, is made by Tiffany and Co. and is worth $25,000.
Big-time bling
The winning team receives up to 150 Super Bowl which cost the team around 3 million…but then the NFL helps out a little..400,000 …..I hope the water boy gets a little bit of that action!
Bountiful balls
Of the 700,000 footballs produced each year for official NFL use, 72 come into play in the championship game.
Who’s at home?
No team has ever played the Super Bowl in their home stadium, but there’s still a “home” and “away” team every season
