This is definitely the sweetest ride you’ll probably see in your lifetime.
Designed by Dan Harris in Bend, Oregon, this limo-jet is being called the Learmousine and being featured in Mecum Auctions Indy 2020 lot.
The 42′ Lear jet is now street legal with a one of a kind patent pending design. The 42 foot long and 8 foot wide jet is owned by Jettersetter Inc., a company formed by Frank DeAngelo and Michael Kashevatsky.
Harris worked with a Chicago based firm, Exotic Coach, to manage the build. Research started back in 2005 and lasted for two years until the electrical system and full suspension started being built from the ground up.
The driver sits in front where the former cockpit was located. The yoke (control wheel) was switched out for a four-spoke steering wheel and the rest of the panel was fitted with instruments from a first generation Chevrolet Silverado. Various camera angles around the Learmousine allows the driver to feel comfortable maneuvering it around city streets.
The above switches that were once used to control parts of the jet are now used to control music, lights and other accessories. The concept must have been built on ‘party in the back’ because this vehicle is tricked out with a 42 inch plasma TV, tons of lights, a minibar and 17,000 watts of sound both inside and outside the jet. The engine narcelle (air intake) holds some of these mammoth speakers that can play jet engine sound effects.
If you’re worried about driving on narrow roads with this beast, no need to fret because they’ve thought of it all!
The 18-seater Learmousine is powered by an 8.1 litre V8 engine from Chevrolet. A 400 HP truck engine sits deep in the chassis to power the Limo-Jet down the road, riding on custom 28-inch red and black Diablo wheels with Kumho 325/25R28 tires. Hydro-boosted brakes keep speeds in check. The tips of the tail plane on the vertical fin fold inward, which is essential for road travel.
If you think you’re just going to drive this baby off the lot, you don’t have to because the limo-jet comes with a custom 2017 Iron Bull 44-foot trailer and a 2015 Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup to haul your Lear to the next car show or just everywhere you go.
The auction is set to take place May 12-17 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. There is no word on what the starting bid will be. Good luck!
