Halloween is Wednesday, and for some reason, people like to be scared. You won’t have to travel far to get scared in Prince Albert, there’s scary sites all over the place. I’ve heard that the old fire hall (the Prince Albert Historical Museum) has a poltergeist that lives in the basement. I don’t believe the basement is open to the public though, so you might want to check with staff before you saunter down the stairs.
Of course you’ve probably heard about the Arts Center downtown, and its playful ghosts, but did you know the Forestry Centre (soon to be the UofS Campus in PA) is haunted too?
The Provincial Jail hangman’s gallows once stood in what is now Kinsmen Park. The last five people who were hanged in Prince Albert were executed and possibly buried on or near the park. Kinsmen Park has actually been named one of the most haunted places in Saskatchewan.
And let’s not forget the world famous St. Louis Ghost Light south of Prince Albert. The old track bed is on private property, so don’t go trespassing, but you can probably see the light while sitting on the grid road. Don’t ask me for directions though… it’s been many many years since I’ve been there.
